Dry Dating: The Basics

"Dry Dating Syndrome" (DDS) is a term that describes a bittersweet dating affliction from which the most recent studies show at least two people suffer. (OK, but that's sort of why this blog has been set up. We know you're out there, folks, just waiting to share your chafed up story with the world.)

DDS was discovered relatively recently, but we know enough to provide the following information:

DDS describes a relationship stasis where the following is present: crushing to whatever extent by one or both parties, often including lengthy hangouts and fairly extensive personal information sharing. But the following is never present: hand holding, kissing, etc. For whatever reason, you are taking up space the other person's life that would probably be better suited for a full-on partner, but you've both got too much pathology to have a real relationship. So you date but you don't. You dry date.

If you have a story to share, please email so that we can post your story and answer your question.
